| Review: MAGIX Slideshow Maker is a software with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to create a slideshow from images. The interface of this program consists of a clean and eye-catching wizard in which you can follow a few simple steps. So, you can get started by specifying a project name and image format (standard or widescreen). Plus, you can set MAGIX Slideshow Maker to automatically cut to fit the monitor. Once you import images by using the file browser (the drag and drop method is not supported), you can rotate them and set the display duration per photo. Furthermore, you can select a style template or create a custom one by adjusting the intensity, fades (e.g. cut, crossfade, 3D) and effects (e.g. camera pans, zoom, rotation, distortion). But you can also add background music and set the volume, as well as configure the properties and title (e.g. adjust the slideshow length to music or viceversa, process videos, input opening and closing credits). Once you have previewed the results, you can save them as a video file (in the WMV format), share on your online album or publish online on YouTube, Facebook and other social media platforms. The program takes up a very high amount of system resources, has a very good response time (other applications don run slower in the background), includes a well-written help file with snapshots for beginners and quickly creates a slideshow. No errors have occurred during our tests. We highly recommend MAGIX Slideshow Maker to all users. |

| Review: USB Manager is a very easy to use Windows software tool designed to give you full control over the removable drives connected to your computers USB ports. Especially useful because it lets you control multiple USB devices at once, USB Manager provides a rather simple interface that shows the connected items and their type. For instance, you can see storage devices, USB printers, USB audio items and USB scanners straight in the main window, with a single click needed to disable them. Of course, in case multiple users are working on the same computer, the administrator can restrict access to some of the connected USB devices, with a dedicated password tool to block the use of certain items. Once you right click the System Tray icon, USB Manager gives you the power to disable USB storage devices, printers, scanners or audio items, all with a single click, but also step into options and change certain features of the app. For example, you can enable the password, start the program automatically with Windows, turn on hotkeys to control the app straight from your keyboard or completely hide USB Manager in your system. It doesn slow down the system and it works without a flaw on all Windows versions, without the need for administrator privileges on Windows 7. Overall, USB Manager is a handy piece of software, relying on a user friendly interface and a few configuration options to serve its purpose. Theres no help manual in the package, but you don even need one because all features are fairly intuitive and easy to use. |

Next to AIDA or Driver Detective, 3DP Chip might seem like an old-fashioned solution, but judge it only after you?ve experimented with it. Even though it?s much simpler than the aforementioned solutions, it?s just as effective and far less resource consuming. First of all, installation is not required, as your efforts are reduced to double-clicking the executable it comes wrapped in. The user-friendly interface displays information for devices such as CPU, Motherboard, Video Card, Multimedia, Ethernet Card and Mouse. Just beneath all of these, you can take a peek at the CPU clock and Memory Size. You can also copy the systems information into 3DP Chips clipboard and submit a bug report to the developers, in case the software does not correctly detect your devices. As useful and as efficient this software is, it does have a drawback: you have to click on each device name and access its corresponding webpage, in order tocheck if updates are necessary or not. It would have been much comfortable ifall this information was displayed in the softwares interface, within the glimpse of an eye. Other than this inconvenience, 3DP Chip performs wonderfully. It?s extremely easy to work with it and acts light on your computer resources. All in all, it?s a great alternative to paid software, even though driver downloads are processed via web browsers and not from inside the application. |

| Review: WMA Encoder Decoder is a program designed to help you convert audio files (e.g. WAV, MP3, OGG, AC3) to the WMA format, as well as to turn WMA files into WAV. The interface of the application consists of a plain and simple window where you can add items to the list by using the file browser (drag and drop is not supported). Encoding multiple entries at the same time is possible. In the file queue you can check out the initial name and format, target type, bit rate, frequency, channel mode and output destination of each item. Once the output directory and type have been established, you can start the conversion procedure with the default settings. If you are an advanced user, then you can change audio parameters in regard to the number of passes, compression level, bit rate, channel mode and sampling rate. Unfortunately, you cannot create output profiles. Moreover, you can set WMA Encoder Decoder to delete the source files after conversion and to copy ID3 tags, as well as remove an item from the list or clear its status. The columns can be customized. Furthermore, you can set the tool to close the application or to power off the computer when the tasks are done, to stop the batch conversion in case of errors (if the destination file cannot be created or if the source tracks cannot be accessed), as well as to overwrite existing files.
